The Historic BK House & Gardens is wrapping up its acclaimed Rhythm & Roses concert series while unveiling an exciting lineup of events for November. Located in the heart of the French Quarter, the BK House continues to offer a rich blend of music, film, storytelling and cultural programming, with upcoming events promising to enchant locals and visitors alike.
Rhythm & Roses Concert Series Finale
The Rhythm & Roses series, supported by benefactor James Douglas Hislop, has brought an eclectic mix of local New Orleans artists to the beautiful Parterre Garden at BK House. The fall series culminates on November 1 with a performance by Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph. Known for her powerhouse vocals, Jelly Joseph has captured attention through her work with the Grammy-nominated band Tank and the Bangas, as well as her hit song “Fya” with HaSizzle.
Tickets for the final concert are available for $30 ($25 for BK House members), and concertgoers are encouraged to purchase in advance due to the limited seating in the historic garden setting. Doors will open at 5:30 pm, with the concert beginning at 6 pm.
November Programming Highlights
Following the conclusion of Rhythm & Roses, BK House will continue to present a diverse range of events throughout November, celebrating New Orleans’ rich cultural history.
- November 7: Ancestral Artistry Film Screening
A documentary exploring the architectural legacy of early Africans and Creoles of Color in Louisiana, Ancestral Artistry takes an in-depth look at the artisans who helped shape iconic structures like BK House. The screening will be held inside the very space these craftsmen built. Tickets are $10 for non-members and $5 for members. - November 10: Teena May Concert
Singer-songwriter Teena May will grace the BK House courtyard with a concert that blends Country, Pop, Folk, and Americana. Known for her heartfelt performances around the world, Teena’s intimate, BYOB show promises to be a unique musical experience. Tickets are $30 for non-members and $25 for members. - November 13: Quarter Kaleidoscope – A Live Storytelling Event
In collaboration with VCPORA and the French Quarter Journal, BK House presents Quarter Kaleidoscope, a storytelling event that features long-time French Quarter residents and business owners sharing their personal tales. This event, supported by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, celebrates the vibrant legacy of local businesses that make the French Quarter more than just a tourist destination. Tickets are $10 for non-members and $5 for members. - November 20: Lecture with TR Johnson
Author TR Johnson will present a lecture based on his book New Orleans, A Literary History, providing insights into the city’s rich literary heritage. Tickets are $10 for non-members and $5 for members.
Looking Ahead to December
As the holiday season approaches, BK House has announced additional events for December, including a Wine Tasting with Bubbles on December 12 and a Big Easy Boys Christmas Concert on December 15. From December 27-29, BK House will also participate in a Creole Christmas Tour with neighboring French Quarter museums.
