The New Orleans Ragtime Festival, an event dedicated to promoting the musical legacy of the ragtime movement through performance and education, begins Thursday, April 4 and continues until Sunday, April 7.
The Festival is celebrating its fourth annual event with a stacked lineup, every day featuring a new artist and venue. With locations from Hotel Peter and Paul, Rock N’ Bowl, The New Orleans Jazz Museum, and the Little Gem Saloon, the New Orleans Ragtime Festival has planned a jam-packed weekend that encompasses all the fun and live energy ragtime has to offer.
On Thursday, April 4, Orange Kellin’s Deluxe Orchestra will illuminate New Orleans jazz music in a bright and brilliant fashion. They will take the stage from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hotel Peter and Paul.
Friday, April 5 features Steve Pistorius & the Southern Syncopators, a group that will make all attendees want to get up and dance to their traditional jazz sound. They will perform at Rock’n’Bowl from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The New Orleans Jazz Museum will host the five artists and groups scheduled to perform on Saturday, April 6. These shows will take place during the day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and feature Kris Tokarski, The New John Robichaux Society Orchestra, Silver Swan Ragtime Interpreters, Seva Venet and the Storyville Stringband, and lastly Lars Endgran’s New Orleans Ragtime Orchestra. Each musician and singer will play for 45 minutes.
Saturday’s events will continue for the night show at the Little Gem Saloon from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. featuring a performance by Evan Christopher’s Clarinet Road.
Rock’n’Bowl will host another performance for the festival on Sunday, April 7. The New Leviathan Oriental Foxtrot Orchestra will finish off the festival with their music set from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
