New Orleans Pridefest, the city’s renowned celebration of LGBTQ+ pride recently unveiled its official new logo meticulously designed by the talented team at New Orleans design firm DJB Design. The logo, featuring a spirited alligator named Gautreaux, adorned in the vibrant colors of the LGBTQ+ pride flags, symbolizes inclusivity, resilience, and the spirit of unity within the community.
“We wanted a logo that will become synonymous with New Orleans Pridefest. We hope everyone will see themselves in Gautreaux — fierce, fabulous, and a friend to all,” remarked New Orleans Pridefest President Tracy Deroche, expressing the organization’s vision for the new emblem.
The annual Pridefest, held on the Saturday of Pride weekend (typically the second weekend of June), promises an array of vendors, entertainment, food, and beverage options filling the 2200 block of North Rampart Street and the Marigny Roberts parking lot. The festival has a rich history, having been held at various locations across the city since the early 1970s, with the Phoenix Bar serving as the primary sponsor since 2015.
“This event just grows and grows, and we are delighted that our community continues to come back year after year. This year will be no exception. We’re planning our biggest and best Pridefest yet,” exclaimed Deroche, reflecting on the enduring spirit of Pride celebrations in New Orleans and the community’s ongoing commitment to equality and inclusivity.
