The New Orleans Pride summer festival is growing every year, and 2018’s promises to be the biggest one yet. The festivities will kick off on Friday, June 8, with a GLOW party at One Eyed Jacks (615 Toulouse St.) presented by FLAME. Queer rap icon Le1f will headline the event, with support from local rap queen Delish Da Goddess, electronic explorer Bouffant Bouffant and DJ Ryan Tiffin. Tickets are available now, starting at $15. The event is 18+ and will run from 9 p.m.-2 a.m.
The celebration will continue throughout the weekend, with parades running through the Quarter both Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10. Saturday’s main event will include a performance from New Orleans Pride’s 2018 Grand Marshall and Best of the Beat 2017’s Best Violinist/Fiddler, Amanda Shaw, as well as guest appearances from Mardi Gras Indians and the TBC Brass Band.
The Pride celebration in New Orleans has always been a can’t-miss event. The biggest celebration, of course, is the official Pride parade which takes place on June 9. At TogetherWeNOLA, you can find out more information about official Pride happenings, including parade registration for those looking to secure a float and more. Pride weekend has additional events listed on its website, with more to come as the weeks progress.
