The New Orleans Oyster Festival will return to Woldenberg Riverfront Park along the banks of the Mississippi River on June 3 and 4. The event will showcase over 20 food vendors—most of them specializing in oysters—and plenty of live music.
Admission will be free and open to the public.
Current OffBeat cover subjects Flow Tribe will perform at the festival, which will feature additional sets from Bag of Donuts, Bonerama, Billy Iuso & the Restless Natives, Brass-A-Holics, Luke Winslow King and more.
As usual, the festival will also play host to a few competitive undertakings, including the Acme Oyster House World Oyster Eating Championship, the P&J Oyster Shucking Competition and the New Orleans Fish House Largest Oyster Contest.
However, the big draw for most people will undoubtedly be oysters and oyster-based dishes. Both will be available in spades from vendors like Drago’s, Acme Oyster House, Jacques-Imo’s and Antoine’s, among others. A full list of available dishes can be found via the festival’s website.
