This Saturday, March 7, the New Orleans Original Brass Festival will celebrate New Orleans’ rich brass-band traditions with a festival at Congo Square in Louis Armstrong Park.
Founded to “celebrate the culture and legacy of New Orleans music and its people,” the NOLA Brass Fest is spearheaded by the Save Our Brass Culture Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to providing opportunities to aging and retired musicians as a means to generate income for themselves and their families.
This year’s Brass Fest lineup includes a headlining performance from Grammy-winning Rebirth Brass Band. Additionally, there will be performances from TBC Brass Band, Pinnettes Brass Band, Da Truth Brass Band, Free Agents Brass Band and many more. Click here to see the full lineup.
Opening the event will be a memorial parade honoring local musicians who’ve died, as well as a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Roots of Music will kick off musical performances at 12 p.m. At 3:45 p.m., a special musical performance will honor Derrick Tabb, with Rebirth wrapping up the evening with a 7 p.m. set.
General admission tickets for the New Orleans Original Brass Festival are available here for $10. For $60, attendees can purchase a VIP option which includes a VIP Entrance, Brass Fest wristband, all you can drink BEER, Brass Fest poster, private restrooms and more.
