Why: When the “Baby Wolf” howls, he summons the spirits of the blues masters past. His blistering licks weave through the sounds of Albert King, Jimi Hendrix and Lightnin’ Hopkins often over the course of a few bars.

Why: Since relocating to the Crescent City, virtuoso axeman and lap steel player Lake has immersed himself in the Mississippi blues. His wail belies his age, and his playing, a force to reckon.
