“New Orleans Live” Begins Filming At Generations Hall

Back in May, OffBeat announced that iconic Cox Cable television program Louisiana Jukebox–which showcased live performances of hundreds of New Orleans artists from Irma Thomas to Rebirth Brass Band to Allen Toussaint to Cowboy Mouth–would be resurrected as New Orleans Live.

Filming for New Orleans Live is now underway. Generations Hall plays host as executive producer Ernest Collins (Louisiana Jukebox) and crew film 14 episodes in front of live studio audiences. Admission is free, and showtimes are at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Yesterday, they kicked off with Gal Holiday & the Honky Tonk Revue, the Joe Krown Trio, Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys, and comedian Michael Strecker filmed at the 7 p.m. showing.

Jason Marsalis & the 21st Century Trad Band, the Brint Anderson Band, the New Breed Brass Band, and comedian Leon Blanda were filmed at 9:30 p.m.

For the complete schedule, visit New Orleans Live’s website here. It’s a great chance to see some of the city’s best live music for free!

In the meantime, you can check out the videos on offbeat.com. Our partnership with Louisiana Jukebox has given us exclusive access to their archives, and we’ve been posting featured episodes for over three months now.
