Two late giants of New Orleans cuisine, Ella Brennan and Leah Chase, will be honored at the upcoming free summer film series organized by The New Orleans Film Society.
The Summer Film Series kicks off Thursday, June 27 with Chasing Dreams: A Leah Chase Story. The documentary film was a winner of a jury award at the New Orleans Film Festival in 2011. Immediately following that film is a screening of Ella Brennan: Commanding the Table, which took home an audience award at the 2016 New Orleans Film Fest.
Over the course of July and August, the Summer Film Series will screen Lily Keber’s Bayou Maharajah (July 10), Girls Trip (July 25) and Down by Law (August 8).
All of the films included in the Summer Film Series are screened at the Orpheum Theater (129 Roosevelt Way). The New Orleans Film Society will present the 30th New Orleans Film Festival this October.
