With the announcement of placement hearings for the 2019 to 2020 season, the New Orleans Children’s Chorus is calling all singers in the age range of five to 16 years old. Special talent and experience is not required; NOCC is open to any child with a desire to sing.
This season is set to include a Broadway concert, which will feature choirs and individual singers performing showtunes, and the regularly scheduled Winter and Spring Concerts. Beginning on Mon., Sept. 9 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, weekly rehearsals will be held on various dates, all starting after 4 p.m.
NOCC is nationally renowned as a top-rate music-education program, and it is considered a model for other such programs in the United States. In 2017, NOCC celebrated its 35th anniversary. Throughout NOCC’s history, its members have performed in Italy, Ireland, Canada, Washington, D.C., at Disney World and at many other events and concerts. In 2019, the Concert Chorus and Alumni performed together on tour at concerts in Florence and Verona, Italy.
