Earlier today we reported that the first New Orleans edition of The Bloody Mary Festival will be coming to town in the spring. Now it looks like a second new booze-related gathering—The New Orleans Bourbon Festival—will also make its debut in March, and on the same weekend as the Bloody Mary Festival no less.
Don’t worry, the festival has nothing at all to do with Bourbon the Street. Rather, the inaugural New Orleans Bourbon Festival will take place at The Sugar Mill and the Marriott-Convention Center in the Warehouse District from March 24 to 26.
The three-day festival feature an assortment of tastings and meals, including a pair of 1920s speakeasy-themed Grand Tastings. Those main events will be located at The Sugar Mill, where there will be live music from Matt Lemmler’s New Orleans Jazz Revival Band, as well as vendors in the adjacent courtyard and blocked off street.
Additionally, a Bourbon Seminar Series will transpire at the Marriott-Convention Center, just down the street from the main activities. Topics will include Women in Bourbon, Bourbon History, Master Distiller Talks and Food Pairings.
Finally, the festivities will culminate in an Awards Brunch, where craft bourbon cocktails and local brunch fare will be on the menu as awards are handed out to the weekend’s best bourbons.
More information on the seminars, activities and other aspects of the festival will be revealed in the coming months. Tickets for the New Orleans Bourbon Festival are now on sale.
