New Orleans Ballet Association presents MOMIX’s Alice

The New Orleans Ballet Association (NOBA) has organized a fresh interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, Alice in Wonderland, titled ALICE, choreographed by Moses Pendleton, the artistic director of the renowned MOMIX dance company, known for its inventive and visually stunning performances. ALICE is scheduled to take place on March 11, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts.

Known internationally for presenting work of exceptional inventiveness and physical beauty, MOMIX is a company of dancer-illusionists under the direction of Pendleton. In addition to stage performances worldwide, MOMIX has worked in film and television, recently appearing in a national commercial for Hanes underwear and a Target ad that premiered during the airing of the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

The performance promises to take audiences on a whimsical journey using props, ropes and, of course, dancers. MOMIX has captivated audiences worldwide since 1980 with its imaginative works and physical beauty. The dance company has also made appearances in films and on television, with its performance in Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, winning an International Emmy Award for Best Performing Arts Special. MOMIX dancers Cynthia Quinn and Karl Baumann played a significant role in the feature film FX2, while White Widow, co-choreographed by Pendleton and Cynthia Quinn, was featured in Robert Altman’s ballet movie The Company.

Moses Pendleton, the founder of MOMIX, is an accomplished choreographer and director who has been recognized internationally for his work in film, television, opera and ballet.

The NOBA season will wrap up with the State Ballet of Georgia, featuring Nina Ananiashvili, former Bolshoi Theatre prima ballerina, and American Ballet Theatre principal dancer, accompanied by the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

Tickets for ALICE range from $35 to $169 and can be purchased on the New Orleans Ballet Association website, Ticketmaster, or by calling the NOBA Box Office. Discounts are available for seniors and students, and group discounts are also available.
