Emilie Rhys has been creating original artwork of New Orleans musicians in their natural habitat—the stage—since 2011. In December of 2015, she opened her online store, Scene by Rhys, and one year later she set up shop in a permanent location on Toulouse Street in the French Quarter.
Rhys’ detailed, color-infused sketches have always been wonderful to look at (just check out the illustrations in this OffBeat piece from 2013), but a few years ago she was forced to alter her style after developing a circulatory disorder called Raynaud’s syndrome. WWL-TV put together a brief report on Rhys’ creative solution to the problem.
