New Orleans Airport Issues Call for Musicians

The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY), in collaboration with the City of New Orleans Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy (OCE), has announced a call for local musicians to join its live entertainment program. Musicians interested in performing at the airport are encouraged to apply by Tuesday, June 4, 2024, for a chance to entertain the thousands of travelers passing through the terminal daily.

Musical acts, either solo performers or groups of up to four members, will be considered for performances on the Jazz Garden Stage located on level one of the terminal in the arrivals area. Performers must be comfortable engaging with guests and are required to commit to at least one three-hour performance per week for a duration of three months. Applicants must read and agree to the airport’s musician performance guidelines and complete an interest form, including a video submission of a past performance.

Jazz is the preferred genre for these performances, but the program is also open to Blues, Zydeco, Funk, R&B/Soul and Classical music. Performers will be compensated at a standard rate and have the opportunity to receive tips.

This initiative aims to enhance the travel experience at MSY by showcasing the vibrant musical talent of New Orleans, reflecting the city’s rich cultural heritage right from the moment travelers arrive.

The airport will issue a call for musicians quarterly. A committee comprising representatives from the airport, OCE, and the local music community will evaluate the applicants.
