On November 2, the inaugural New Orleans Accordion Festival will kick off with klezmer, Cajun, and zydeco music performed by The New Orleans Klezmer All-Stars, Bruce Daigrepont and Corey Ledet. However, the festivities run through the weekend and now, organizers have announced additions to the lineup of performers. As previously reported by OffBeat.com, November 3 will feature free performances on two stages. Additionally, a headlining performance in the evening will offer a dazzling showcase of accordion talent, with a very special New Orleans guest.
In partnership with the French Market and National Park Service, the free performances will feature Cameron Dupuy and The Cajun Troubadours; Accordianistan (original chamber-folk music); bluesman Johnny Sansone; Michael Ward-Bergeman (trad jazz); G-String Orchestra (Eastern European); Ashlae Blume w/ Läelûme (jazz/neo-soul); Dirty Bourbon River Show (big brass circus rock); Oddjob Ensemble (original instrumental); Captain Squeeze (Worldbeat); Blato Zlato (Balkan); Greg Schatz (electric roots rock); Bart Ramsey & Zazou City (gypsy jazz); and José Fermin Ceballos w/Merengue4 (Latin).
On the evening of November 3, Grammy-winning jazz accordionist and arranger Gil Goldstein will put on a headlining performance with drummer Johnny Vidacovich. This performance will take place at the New Orleans Jazz Museum at the old U.S. Mint.
Sunday, November 4 will feature workshops, a film screening, an accordion petting zoo and more.
