Gulf Coast Theatre on Tap’s original production, “Neutral Ground,” will run October 9-12 at NOCCA, the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.
The production consists of compositions from various local legends including Louis Prima, Kermit Ruffins, Allen Toussaint, and Galactic performed live by a seven piece band including vocalist Arséne DeLay.
There will also be a special tribute to Pete Fountain.
The performance has been described as the place where the sounds of New Orleans combine with the rhythms of tap.
Gulf Coast Theatre on Tap is committed year round to sharing with the community the amazing experience that blending the two American art forms (Jazz & Tap) can illuminate.
“The company’s primary goals are to celebrate, promote and preserve America’s indigenous dance form in the birthplace of jazz and to blend the two syncopated art forms together in a unique way,” said Heidi Malnar, artistic director and company founder, in a recent news release.
There couldn’t be a better place for such a celebration.
There will be fun for all ages, including performances by the Junior and Pre-Professional companies of the GCTT.
Tickets are available now for as low as $15. For additional information head over to Theatreontap.com
