This Friday, April 10, Music Policy Forum will present an online discussion featuring music leaders from across the United States. The conversation will focus on how American cities like New Orleans, Minneapolis and Washington, D.C. are handling the myriad ways in which the pandemic is drastically altering how respective music industries are operating.
Taking place on Zoom from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. PST , “Music Cities Together” is hosted by Music Policy Forum board member Michael Bracy, who’ll be joined by fellow board member Ashlye Keaton, of New Orleans. Representing Minneapolis is musician and essayist Dessa, whom some may know through her work as a member of Doomtree. Washington, D.C. will be represented by jazz performer and organizer Aaron Myers, while OffBeat publisher Jan Ramsey will speak to the pandemic’s affect in New Orleans.
Each of the speakers will detail how cities are responding to the public health crisis and also offer advice to government officials who may be eager to support the music community but unsure as to how to implement such goals.
