The first morning of February means we’re getting closer and closer to the big day. Well no, not the Black & Gold Super Bowl. And no, not Mardi Gras either. Nor the day when the weather starts getting warm again.

We’re talking about the New Orleans mayoral primary election, coming up this Saturday, February 6. To invigorate his base going into the final stretch, candidate James Perry is hosting a fundraiser tonight at the Howlin’ Wolf featuring local musicians. The headliner for “An Evening of Music for James Perry” is Dr. John, who gave his endorsement to Perry a little over a week ago, saying, “The man [Perry] is the only person I have met that’s in this race for mayor who is for the people.”

The show will also feature funk/jazz band Good Enough for Good Times, country band Country Fried, and special guests. Tickets are $20 (available at the door) and include a James Perry 2010 yard sign.
