Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo returns in 2023

(Update 1/24/23) Full music and comedy lineup are available here

The annual Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo returns to the banks of Bayou St. John for its sixteenth year on May 19-21. In addition to music performing on two stages, a new comedy stage will be added to this year’s festival.

It will also feature a curated art market, a kids’ tent and crafts area, a VIP Canopy Club, an art installation, food from over 20 local vendors as well as paddling and yoga activities.

“We are beyond excited to once again bring this community festival to our long-time home on the banks of Bayou St. John,” said Jared Zeller, festival producer, founder and President of Friends of Bayou St. John, We’ve been working on some new programming and other engaging festival elements that we will roll out as soon as details are finalized.”

Boats, floats, canoes, kayaks and barges will have an additional fee to their admission of $2 to go towards the environmental preservation of Bayou St. John. Any person or group who desires to put a homemade barge in the water will be required to leave a $100.00 deposit, which will be refunded upon the user’s removal of the barge.

Funds raised through Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo events are used to preserve and protect Bayou St. John and its canopy of trees. Some recent projects undertaken by Friends of Bayou St. John include monthly bayou clean-ups, ongoing litter abatement, Christmas tree immersion to create habitats for fish and a feasibility study by a landscape architecture company to reinvigorate the infrastructure on Bayou St. John.

Tickets are on sale now at a discounted price until January 24. Visit their website for more information on preservation efforts and Bayou Boogaloo’s Return.
