The 2022 Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo will return to the banks of Bayou St. John for three days from Friday, May 20, through Sunday, May 22, for its 16th year of music, food and neighborhood culture.
“If there is one thing we’ve learned in the past two years, it’s the value of our outdoor spaces and natural environments,” said Jared Zeller, president of Friends of Bayou St. John, the nonprofit organization that produces the festival to raise money for the health and stewardship of Bayou St. John. “Bayou St. John has been a true refuge throughout the pandemic, providing much-needed outdoor recreation, beauty and space to breathe.”
In 2021, due to ongoing andemic concerns, Friends of Bayou St. John staged a scaled-down Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo “in exile” at the Broad Street Theater with five bands over three days and an arts market. The 2020 festival was cancelled due to the initial surge of COVID-19 infections.
The 2022 Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo will feature more than 30 bands on four stages, a kid’s area, a large art market, numerous neighborhood food and drink vendors, yoga and water activities. Past performers have included the North Mississippi Allstars, New Orleans Nightcrawlers, Big Freedia, Tab Benoit, Amanda Shaw, Tank & The Bangas, Johnny Sketch & The Dirty Notes, Leo Nocentelli and other regional and local favorites. The 2022 musical lineup will be announced in February.
Advance three-day weekend tickets ($20) and three-day Canopy Club passes ($200) are available for purchase through February 14. Admission fees will increase after that date. For more information, visit here.
