Mia x Ally: From TikTok Stardom to Debut Album Tour

Tiktok sensations Mia x Ally are releasing their debut album on October 27 and making a stop in New Orleans on November 5 at the House of Blues for their “Devil Went Down to Georgia” tour, named for one of their top singles from their viral Tiktok covers. The duo is comprised of electric violinist Mia Asano and bagpiper Ally the Piper, who discovered each other on the platform.

With a unique twist on several rock classics such as Lynard Skynard’s “Free Bird,” they are the first ever electric violin and bagpipe duo, according to their Instagram. They draw inspiration from metal, punk, pop, and rock legends like Metallica, who commented on Ally’s “5 Metallica Songs you didn’t know could Bagpipe” post, defending her from an Internet trolls trying (and failing) to prove her wrong.

The Big Easy has not seen many electric violins or bagpipes, but the duo follows in the footsteps of New Orleans-bred pop fusion violinist Danielle Ryce and Jazz Fest favorite James Rivers and his bagpipes in their new twist on classical styles.

The two made their debut in Boston with two sold-out shows in August 2022. After their success, and with more demand from social media, they made their way through the East Coast and Midwest on their “Shipping up to Boston” tour, also aptly named for one of their viral covers. Both artists enjoy giving their classic instruments modern, electric twists

To prep for their tour, you can stream their current singles “Free Bird,” “Fairy Tail” and “Devil Went Down to Georgia” on all streaming platforms and look for their album out on October 27.
