The Joy Theater in New Orleans will celebrate New Year’s Eve with “A Funky Affair.” The historic Canal Street venue will welcome a double bill of Foundation of Funk and The New Mastersounds for the event, which is slated for Decmember 31.
Foundation of Funk features original The Meters members George Porter Jr. and Zigaboo Modeliste, as well as guitarist Eddie Roberts of keyboardist Joe Tatton. Both Roberts and Tatton are also members of co-headlining act The New Mastersounds, a funk/soul quartet from the UK.
Foundation of Funk will pay tribute to the music of The Meters during their performance, while The New Mastersoudns will team up with the West Coast Horns for their set.
Tickets will go on sale at 10am this Friday, September 25 in a variety of price tiers, including General Admission, Upper Balcony Reserved Seating and VIP Lower Balcony Reserved Seating.
Upper Balcony tickets include reserved seating with a prime view of the stage and select open bar from 9pm-11:30pm. VIP Lower Balcony tickets include reserved seating with even better views of the stage, select open bar from 9pm – 11:30pm, and a commemorative event poster signed by either Foundation of Funk or The New Mastersounds. Fans that purchase GA Standing Room tickets will also have the option of paying extra for the open bar.
