Master P, Trombone Shorty & Mia X Unite for Anthem of Resilience in Wake of Bourbon Street Tragedy

Master P, Trombone Shorty and Mia X are joining forces to create an anthem of hope and healing for their city following the recent Bourbon Street terror attack.

The trio is collaborating on “City of New Orleans, Keep Holding On,”  which aims to be both a tribute to the resilience of New Orleans and a call to action, with all proceeds benefiting the families of the victims.

“The city of New Orleans been hit with everything,” Master P said to Fox 8 News. “We been hit with hurricanes. We been hit with natural disasters. Now this terrorist act. I feel like we’ve been tested, but we’re stronger together. We’re resilient, we gonna keep bouncing back. I feel like we’re going to be stronger than ever now.”

The song’s release is expected soon, and the artists hope it will serve as a rallying cry for a city that has faced more than its fair share of challenges.

In a significant move to bolster the city’s cultural and entertainment landscape, Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced in August 2024 that businessman and music mogul Percy “Master P” Miller had been named the official Entertainment Ambassador for the City of New Orleans. The announcement took place during a press conference attended by key city leaders, including State Representative Candace Newell, Councilman Eugene Green, Director of the Office of Cultural Economy Lisa Alexis, Director of the Office of Economic Development Jeff Schwartz, Interim Director of the Mayor’s Office of Nighttime Economy Michael Ince, and several others.

The appointment marked the beginning of a collaborative initiative aimed at stimulating entertainment and cultural opportunities in New Orleans. The effort sought to leverage the city’s rich traditions while building a platform for future success. As Entertainment Ambassador, Master P worked alongside other influential New Orleans natives to develop and promote entertainment content across a wide range of mediums, including film, television, music streaming, culinary, and visual arts.
