New Orleans hip-hop icon Master P is offering his services to the New Orleans Pelicans. The rapper, producer and businessman—whose given name is Percy Miller—said as much during an Monday interview with TMZ, telling a reporter, “I think they need me to be an assistant coach.”
“That’s a winning coach,” Miller’s son Romeo added during the brief interview.
The idea may sound odd at first, but Miller has a long history with professional basketball. He had pre-season contracts with the Charlotte Hornets and the Toronto Raptors in the late ‘90s, and even played in the Continental Basketball Association and the American Basketball Association.
I personally see no downside to bringing Master P on board the Pelicans coaching staff, but then again, I know very little about the sport of basketball. However, I do know that Master P has had plenty of success in the studio, and that could come in handy should DeMarcus Cousins ever decided to record his R&B album.
