After last night’s rain-out, Friday promises to be a long, cold night of parading. Hermes starts at Magazine and Napoleon at 6 p.m. Also starting at 6 Uptown is Krewe d’Etat, but it starts at Jefferson and Magazine and rolls along Magazine before meeting the traditional parade route at Napoleon. It will be followed from the same starting point by Morpheus with an official start time of 7 p.m.
Today’s Times-Picayune says Muses is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., but Tweets from the krewe yesterday said it’s scheduled to start at 8 at Magazine and Napoleon. The latter sounds more likely. The T-P’s schedule would put it third in the run of parades, and it’s hard to imagine Morpheus being willing to stop its ride and wait for Muses to pass. It’s even harder to imagine the parade – which has a hard time holding a crowd after Hermes and d’Etat under normal conditions – being willing to be the last parade on a cold night after krewes that throw as well and imaginatively as d’Etat and Muses.
