Manship Theatre in Baton Rouge announced an eclectic lineup of performances for the upcoming fall season. From interactive experiences and comedy nights to musical concerts and film festivals, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Manship Theatre at the Shaw Center for the Arts opened its doors in March of 2005. They provide programming for audiences of all ages by presenting and promoting diverse arts and cultural experiences.
September 2024:
- September 5: Yesterday & Today: An Interactive Beatles Experience Get ready for an immersive Beatles tribute show where the audience creates the playlist.
- September 5: Stand Up Comedy with Mia Jackson (Hartley/Vey Studio Theatre) Laugh the night away with the hilarious and sharp-witted Mia Jackson in an intimate setting.
- September 8: Common Ground This film exposes the dark web of money, power, and politics behind our broken food system while highlighting a hopeful movement of diverse farmers using regenerative agriculture to balance the climate, save our health, and stabilize America’s economy.
- September 12: Amanda Shaw Louisiana’s own Amanda Shaw brings her high-energy blend of Cajun fiddle and infectious charm to the stage.
- September 13: Improv Comedy Night with The Family Dinner Comedy Troupe Enjoy a night of spontaneous and side-splitting comedy from the talented Family Dinner Comedy Troupe.
- September 19: Karma and The Killjoys with Clay Parker and Jodi James A night of captivating music featuring the soulful sounds of Karma and The Killjoys alongside duo Clay Parker and Jodi James.
- September 26: Sierra Green & The Giants Experience the powerful blues, soul, and R&B of Sierra Green & The Giants in a concert that promises to move and groove.
- September 25 & 29: Manhattan Short Film Festival Be a part of a global audience and vote for your favorite short films in this internationally acclaimed festival.
October 2024:
- October 3: Stand Up Comedy with Dan St. Germain (Hartley/Vey Studio Theatre) Enjoy the unique and hysterical humor of comedian Dan St. Germain for a night of non-stop laughs.
- October 5: An Evening with Chuck Leavell Join legendary pianist/keyboardist Chuck Leavell for an unforgettable evening featuring a 30-minute excerpt from his award-winning documentary, “…The Tree Man,” followed by stories and performances from his six-decade career with icons like The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers Band, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, and David Gilmour.
- October 6: Malevo: Argentinian Dance and Percussion Ensemble Witness the thrilling and powerful performance of Malevo, known for their dynamic Argentinian dance and percussion.
- October 13: Some Enchanted Evening A jazz-steeped celebration of Broadway favorites from the Great American Songbook, featuring Emmy-nominated trumpeter Benny Benack III, social media sensation Stella Cole, and tap dance phenom Jabu Graybeal, blending timeless classics and contemporary hits into an unforgettable musical and dance experience.
- October 16: Across The Pond Guitar Festival Celebrate the artistry of guitarists from around the world in this diverse and captivating festival.
- October 17: Live From Laurel Canyon A journey through the music and stories of the legendary artists who lived in Laurel Canyon, California.
- October 25: DOUBLE FEATURE Spoof Night with The Craft then Rocky Horror Picture Show A fun-filled night of movie spoofs with a double feature screening of “The Craft” followed by the cult classic “Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
- October 27: Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus The Musical A delightful and hilarious musical adaptation of the beloved children’s book that will entertain audiences of all ages.
November 2024:
- November 7: Atlanta Rhythm Section Enjoy the classic Southern rock sounds of the Atlanta Rhythm Section as they bring their hits to the stage.
- November 10: Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny A charming and heartwarming performance perfect for young audiences and families, based on two beloved children’s books.
- November 17: Charlotte’s Web The classic tale of friendship and adventure comes to life in this enchanting theatrical adaptation.
- November 21: Stand Up Comedy with Anthony DeVito (Hartley/Vey Studio Theatre) Anthony DeVito delivers his sharp and insightful comedy in a night guaranteed to have you laughing out loud.
- November 24: Joanne Shaw Taylor Renowned blues-rock guitarist and singer Joanne Shaw Taylor wraps up the fall season with her electrifying performance.
