For six years now the Music and Culture Coalition of New Orleans (MaCCNO) has helped musicians and culture bearers of New Orleans to organize their community and preserve the city’s strong cultural identity. The organization will celebrate its 6th anniversary with a show at Siberia Lounge on Friday, September 21, 2018.
The show will be hosted by local comedian DC Paul and feature performances by the Original Pinettes Brass Band, Chapter SOUL, RQ Away and BLK. Also expected are raffle prizes from local businesses, appearances by the Camel Toe Lady Steppers and more.
The proceeds from ticket sales will go toward supporting MaCCNO’s programs, including the following: the creation of a Grassroots Cultural Master Plan, the production of the free community Guide to New Orleans Street Performance and the Good Visitors Guide to New Orleans, and a push for a more economically equitable tourism industry. MaCCNO’s mission as stated on their website is to “collaborate with, organize, and empower the New Orleans music and cultural community to preserve and nurture the city’s culture, to translate community vision into policy change, and to create positive economic impact.”
Tickets are $15 advance online or $20 cash or credit at the door. They can be purchased on the organization’s website.
