Mac Demarco will return to New Orleans this fall

Mac DeMarco will return to New Orleans on Wednesday, September 27 when he headlines the Orpheum Theater. The slacker rock icon will be on the road in support of his forthcoming album, This Old Dog, which is set for release on May 5.

DeMarco announced a new string of tour dates this morning in addition to releasing a music video for his upcoming record’s title track. A press release that went out earlier today included a description of the new album, though it turns out this description was just a word-for-word copy of the official synopsis for the critically-panned 2017 film A Dog’s Purpose.

“A devoted dog discovers the meaning of its own existence through the lives of the humans it teaches to laugh and love. Reincarnated as multiple canines over the course of five decades, the lovable pooch develops an unbreakable bond with a kindred spirit named Ethan. As the boy grows older and comes to a crossroad, the dog once again comes back into his life to remind him of his true self.”

In any case, This Old Dog will mark DeMarco’s first studio album since 2015’s all-too-brief Another One and 2014’s masterful Salad Days. Check out the new video for its title track below.
