The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO), the region’s premier and Grammy Award-winning ensemble, proudly presents its highly anticipated 2024-2025 orchestral season, promising an exhilarating lineup of concerts, special events, and community programs. Under the esteemed leadership of Music Director Matthew Kraemer, the LPO continues to uphold its mission of delivering ambitious, inspiring performances while engaging with diverse audiences and contributing to the cultural richness of the Gulf South.
Launching on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. at the Orpheum Theater, the season opener, “Symphonie Fantastique,” will feature the LPO’s premiere of composer Brian Raphael Nabors’ captivating work. Kraemer expresses his excitement for the season, stating, “It is an honor to continue building upon the LPO’s artistic vision and cultural contribution, and I am excited to share this thrilling season with our Greater New Orleans community.”
One of the season’s highlights includes a special commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, where New Orleans native and Grammy Award winner Terence Blanchard will join the LPO in performing his emotional tour-de-force, “A Tale of God’s Will: A Requiem for Katrina.” The concert will feature Blanchard’s sextet and the LPO accompanied by still photos taken in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, offering a poignant tribute to the resilience of the city and its people.

The orchestral season will also include a variety of special events and series, such as Music at the New Marigny, Northshore Classics, and Family Concerts, offering audiences of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to experience the transformative power of music.
