The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO), renowned for its innovative performances and groundbreaking collaborations, is set to continue its Music at the Museum series with a concert featuring genre-bending group ÌFÉ. The event will take place on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 6 p.m. at the New Orleans Jazz Market located at 1436 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.
ÌFÉ, the electronic music moniker of New Orleans-based African American producer and percussionist Otura Mun, promises an unforgettable evening of music that blends elements of Trap music, Afro-Cuban folklore, Jamaican Dancehall, Afro Beats and more. Hailed as a “genre-crushing group” by the New York Times, ÌFÉ will join forces with the LPO under the baton of Music Director Matthew Kraemer to deliver lively works deeply rooted in African, Caribbean, and American musical culture.
The program, arranged by LPO violist Sixto Franco, will showcase a dynamic repertoire including pieces like Kenji Bunch’s “Boiling Point,” Sarah Kirland Snider’s “Daughter of Waves,” and a special selection of music by ÌFÉ, featuring tracks like “Fireflies,” “Somos,” “Heart Full of Love,” “Fake Blood,” “Prayer For Shangó” and “Closing Prayer.”
General admission tickets for this exciting collaboration are available for $38, with discounted student tickets priced at $11 (proof of student ID required). For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.lpomusic.com or contact Patron Services at 504.523.6530.
