Loyola University to Host Music Tech Startups Panel with Innovate.LOYNO: Melody Makers

Loyola University’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Community Development, the College of Business, and the Music Industry Studies program are collaborating to present “Innovate.LOYNO – Melody Makers : Inside Music Tech Startups”, a panel discussion that will spotlight five innovative startups at the intersection of music and technology. These startups are all part of New Orleans’ METRONOME music business incubator, which supports local entrepreneurs pushing the boundaries of the music industry.

The event will take place on Thursday, September 26, at 112 Miller Hall, starting at 12:30 p.m.. Attendees will also be treated to free food during the event.

The panel will feature five startup founders:

  • Mike Mauer, founder of Sparrow, will discuss his event marketing platform. Sparrow is designed to help event marketers streamline their operations and automate processes, having already supported over 10,000 events and generated more than $50 million in ticket sales.
  • Alvin Harris, founder of Montralize, will showcase his app that accelerates artists’ journeys to monetization. Montralize simplifies the process of registering with professional agencies that manage royalty collection and provides tools for artists to engage directly with their fan base.
  • Dr. Lana Joseph, founder of Jrumz, will talk about her company’s line of high-end, hearing health-conscious audio products for musicians and audiophiles. Jrumz is focused on delivering superior sound quality while prioritizing hearing safety.
  • Tenley Gorman, co-founder of Tipzy, will present her mobile application that allows bars and venues to manage song requests, organize playlists, and gain data insights to improve the entertainment experience for their customers.
  • James Jeffrey, founder of NOLA Now, will introduce his platform that connects New Orleans community members and tourists with authentic local events produced by New Orleans-based artists and businesses.

The panel will be moderated by Sean Mulligan, a Loyola alum who earned both a bachelor’s (’22) and MBA (’23) from the university.
