While fans of most local festivals may have to wait for fall to attend the primarily music-centric events, they can rejoice that the Louisiana Renaissance Festival has announced Pirates of the Pontchartrain, an homage to all things swashbuckling, nautical and pirate (Argghh!). The event will take place April 10-11, 2021 and April 17-18, 2021.
The Louisiana Renaissance Festival bills itself as many things: theme park, theatre, holiday shopping destination, and educational experience, all rolled into many different adventures.
Every autumn the Louisiana Renaissance Festival creates the English “Village of Albright,” with more than 600 artisans, entertainers and educational demonstrations that welcome you to the best parts of the 16th Century: fun, clean, safe, and educational. Albright has a magical ambiance: the atmosphere is adventurous, exciting and romantic.
The Louisiana Renaissance Village of Albright will be transported through space and time to the Golden Age of Piracy in the Caribbean. During the day on both Saturday and Sunday the pirate shows, games, and merriment are great for families and other types of crews. On Saturdays, after sundown (7:30 p.m.) Pirate Nights will take place which will be vastly different from the family-friendly festivities of the daytime. (Pirate Night is more of a concert for those old enough to drink.)
Camping will also be available. For information and tickets, visit here.
Note: Opportunities are available to join the local cast. The next chance to join the Albright Players and participate in our monthly acting workshops will be at 10 a.m. the second Saturday of March at the RenFest headquarters, 46468 River Road in Hammond, Louisiana.
