In early December, OffBeat reported that longtime French Quarter record store the Louisiana Music Factory was relocating from its familiar Decatur Street locale to Frenchmen Street in the Marigny where it would move into the suite previously occupied by antique boutique the Junque Shop. Presently, renovation of the Louisiana Music Factory’s new space, which, coincidentally, sits directly below OffBeat’s office, is nearing completion, and barring any major setbacks in next few days, the store plans to hold its soft opening this Saturday, February 8, 2014.
Last week, the Louisiana Music Factory held a moving sale at its former, Decatur Street front. Come Saturday, the record store will open its doors during its regular business hours (10:00 am. – 7:00 p.m Monday through Saturday and 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday) at its new, Frenchmen Street address. Prior to this move, the Louisiana Music Factory had operated from its spot on the 200 block of Decatur Street since 1996. Originally, the store was established on the 200 block of North Peters Street in 1992.
A tentative, grand opening date for the Louisiana Music Factory is scheduled for next month on Saturday, March 8 (the Saturday following Mardi Gras); however, firm details regarding the event are still in the works.
