Louisiana Children’s Museum Launches Artist in Residence Program

The Louisiana Children’s Museum (LCM) has introduced an Artist in Residence (AiR) Program, presenting an opportunity for talented visual artists, musicians and performers from the local community. The program fosters creativity and collaboration by inviting children, their families and caregivers to engage in various artistic endeavors.

Under this initiative, selected artists will receive numerous benefits to support their creative pursuits. These include a monthly stipend of $1,000, granting the artist some financial stability while thye pursue artistic ambitions. Additionally, the artists will have access to a wide array of museum tools and supplies bolstered by a material stipend of $400. Participants will be granted access to the museum facilities during open hours and the Studio in the Park to further facilitate their artistic process.

The AiR program provides artists with resources, financial support, and a platform to exhibit their artwork and share their unique talents and perspectives with the public. By bringing their creations to the museum, artists can captivate and inspire visitors, fostering a vibrant artistic atmosphere within the community.

To kick off this initiative, the Louisiana Children’s Museum will host an informational night on Thursday, July 13. This event will serve as a comprehensive introduction to the AiR program, offering attendees a chance to learn more about the program’s application process, benefits, and expectations. Artists interested in participating in the program are encouraged to attend this event.

Applications for the Artist in Residence Program will be open until Thursday, July 23. Artists are urged to submit their applications promptly, as spots are limited.
