The Jazz & Heritage Foundation’s Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival will return to Armstrong Park on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature sets from D.L. Menard with the Jambalaya Cajun Band, Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band, Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Les Freres Michot, Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers and Bruce Daigrepont’s Cajun Band.
This year’s celebration will also showcase a new Folk Life Area in Congo Square, where Cajun culture bearers will give live demonstrations on making file powder, building accordions and more. Additionally, the festival will offer its first-ever dessert-only food area with ice cream, popsicles and other treats.
The Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival is one of many free festivals put on by the Jazz & Heritage Foundation, the organization behind the signature New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Other events include the Crescent City Blues & Barbecue Festival, Congo Square Rhythms Festival and the Treme Creole Gumbo Festival.
