Trombone Shorty’s Blue Note Records debut, Parking Lot Symphony, is slated for release on Friday, April 28—the first day of Jazz Fest. The 12-track effort features 10 new original songs, along with renditions of Allen Toussaint’s “Here Comes The Girls” and The Meters’ “It Ain’t No Use.” Parking Lot Symphony finds the band collaborating with a diverse array of artists, including Aloe Blacc, Alex Ebert (Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros), and producer Chris Seefried (Andra Day, Fitz and the Tantrums).
Shorty and Co.’s Toussaint cover was released earlier this month as the album’s first single, but now they’re back with their first new original song, “Dirty Water.” You can give the laid-back tune a listen below.
As previously reported, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will close out the Acura Stage once again at this year’s Jazz Fest. It’s an honor that has traditionally been reserved for New Orleans’ most cherished artists, from Professor Longhair to the Neville Brothers. He will also host his fifth annual Shorty Fest at the House of Blues during Jazz Fest season.
