The music line-up for October’s Louisiana Seafood Festival has been announced– and it’s a big one, with everything from well-established rock bands (Better Than Ezra), to younger bands with a current buzz (Mia Borders) to progressive Cajun (Sweet Crude, Amanda Shaw), Mardi Gras Indians (the Wild Magnolias) and funk acts (Mo’ Jelly and Papa John Gros with his new band). There’s even an Allman Brothers tribute band, Revival, who’ll be playing the same day as the Royal Southern Brotherhood, which includes Devon Allman. The festival will happen from October 11-13 on the festival grounds at City Park.
The complete line-up is as follows: Friday, 10/11: Sweet Crude, Christian Serpas & Ghost Town, Dave Jordan & the Neighborhood Improvement Association, the Wild Magnolias & the Big Chief Summit, the Royal Southern Brotherhood, Revival and Johnny Sketch & the Dirty Notes. Saturday, 10/12: Matthew Davidson, the Mo Jelly Band, Mia Borders, Mountain Standard Time, Amanda Shaw, the Papa John Gros Band and the Honey Island Swamp Band. Sunday 10/13: Dave Ferrato & Tchoupazine, Creole String Beans, Better Than Ezra, the Wiseguys, and Paul Varisco & the Milestones featuring Luther Kent.
This is of course a food festival though — and crawfish will be back in season by then — so more than two dozen restaurants will be on hand to satisfy your appetite for mudbugs, bivalves and other sea creatures. Though not a new festival, the Louisiana Seafood Festival returns this year for three days of free music and local eats from October 11 – 13 at a new venue: the City Park Festival Grounds.
