Lilli Lewis, the self-titled Folk/Jazz/Rock Diva, has become a New Orleans staple. The local soul vocalist has recorded and sung onstage with the likes of Dr. John and Little Freddie King, and her band plays at Banks Street Bar every Monday night.
In 2017, Lewis released Orange Music volumes I and II, and she’s starting off 2018 with a live album due out in February via Louisiana Red Hot Records, titled The Henderson Sessions after James “Jimbo” Walsh’s recording studio in Henderson, LA. The project is a nine-track mix of originals and cross-genre covers set to sparse piano accompaniment, showcasing Lewis’ range, her socially conscious message, and her sensational voice.
Lewis will celebrate the album’s release at The Little Gem Saloon (445 S. Rampart St.) on Friday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m., along with special guest performances from world class clarinetist Michael White and sousaphone savant Kirk Joseph. Tickets are available now for $10.
