Lil Wayne is spreading the holiday cheer in his hometown: along with fellow Young Money rapper Mack Maine, the rapper hosted a party for 150 high-achieving students at Dave & Buster’s on Poydras Street. The event was aptly titled, “A Weezy Christmas.”
The Young Money rappers teamed up with Wilson Sporting Goods for Weezy Christmas to give kids in the New Orleans area, ages 12-16, the party of a lifetime at the sports and arcade venue. The home of the Big Daddy Chocolate Cake played host to kids who excel academically and in local sports programs. Fellow Young Money artists Jay Jones and Allan Cubas were on deck to give out gifts to the kids.
In addition to Weezy Christmas, Lil Wayne and Maine have been busy partnering with local organizations, such as Son of a Saint, to invest in their hometown community. Wayne also has intentions to bring more athletic programs to Harrell Park, near where he grew up. Wayne took to Instagram to showcase pictures of the evening saying, “[We are] making sure they received the necessary resources so they could enjoy all the benefits of being a top tier athlete was very important to us!”
Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr, just was certified diamond status for his hit song, “Lollipop.” In 2021, the rapper was pardoned by exiting President Donald Trump.
