Singer songwriter Lenny McDaniel passed away on Friday, July 3, at the age of 65.
The talented musician hit it big in France with the single “Rosa” in the 1990s and appeared on Taratata, which was France’s version of The Tonight Show.
At home in New Orleans, McDaniel appeared at French Quarter Fest, Jazz Fest, and gigged around town steadily for years.
“Tired Angels,” the title track off of McDaniel’s popular funky blues album, won Song of the Year at the 1997 Best of the Beat Awards.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation and mass at Greenwood Funeral Home on Thursday, July 9, at 10:00 a.m., and mass at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic.
