A panel discussion revolving around the city’s photographers and culture bearers will be held at the LEH Humanities Center on Tuesday, March 22.
The conversation, themed “Culture of Capture: A Community Conversation with New Orleans Photographers and Culture Bearers,” will include photographers Erika Goldring, Eric Waters and Zack Smith, hip-hop artist Voice Monet and Big Chief Juan Pardo.
“I want to find out more ways we can connect those that document the culture to those that are creating the culture,” said Smith, who is co-producing the event. “I think it’s an important topic that those of us who document this rich cultural New Orleans need to know about and talk about.”
Taking place two days after the much-documented Super Sunday, the discussion will raise questions about the establishment of trustful relationships, fair usage rights for images and concerns with the changes of the digital age.
The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. The LEH Humanities Center is located at 938 Lafayette Street. More information can be found on Facebook.
