The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH) has announced several opportunities for grants in the arts and humanities during the upcoming months.
They’ve joined with the New Orleans Film Society and Deep South Studios to announce the Create Louisiana Filmmakers Grant, “an industry-building program designed to recognize and celebrate the creative industries in Louisiana,” especially local filmmakers.
The recipient team will receive a $50,000 grant for a short film project that must be completed within one year of receiving the award. The finished product will be screened at the 2016 New Orleans Film Festival.
The application period began on August 14th and runs until September 14th.
The LEH also recently announced their 2015 Institutional Support Grants, which were established in 1971 and provide funding for local cultural projects based in Louisiana museums, libraries, and universities. The projects can be in the categories of publishing, digital humanities, or public humanities and should explore “the unique history and culture of Louisiana.”
These grants range from $500 to $50,000. All eligible projects should directly involve the participation of a Louisiana cultural institution, but project directors are not required to be staff members. A letter of support from the museum, library, or university is required.
The application period begins September 1st and closes on October 1st.
