The Krewe of BOO! will host its third annual Halfway to Halloween Dance-Off, sponsored by Monster Energy Drink, from 2 to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 21, at Spanish Plaza.

The free outdoor event will feature many of New Orleans’ most well-known dance krewes who will compete before a panel of celebrity judges. Live DJ music, prize giveaways and family entertainment and also part of the afternoon’s festivities.

“The Halfway to Halloween Dance-Off lets the public see many of the region’s dance and marching groups perform together, and we think it’s a great event to get a taste of the creativity and sense of fun and community that is a part of every troupe,” said Brian Kern, chief spookster for the Krewe of BOO! parade and event founder.

Participating dance krewes include: NOLA Cherry Bombs, Dance Fleur Elite, Disco Amigos, Dream Dolls, Dynamite Dolls, Lucha Krewe, Mande Milkshakers, MKFF’s Cherchez La Femme, The Muff-A-Lottas, NOLA Angels, NOLA Bombshells, NOLA Heat, Pussyfooters, Jailhouse Rockers New Orleans, Roux La La, Sassyracs, The Sirens of New Orleans, Streetcar Strutters NOLA and The Jamettes In addition, Skinz N Bonez will present a drum performance.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the event.

The Krewe of BOO! will also host the inaugural Axeman’s Ball on Saturday, June 4, from 7–11 p.m. at The Republic NOLA, 828 S. Peters Street. The jazz era-themed event will feature a live performance by Naughty Professor. Attendees are encouraged to wear Prohibition era-style costumes. Founded in 2007, Krewe of BOO! 2022 will feature the Royal Luncheon and Second Line to Pat O’Brien’s for the Krewe of Boo’s Cocktail Happy Hour on Friday, October 21, and a morning Zombie Run, the Krewe of Boo! parade and a Monster Mash After Party on Saturday, October 22.
