Krewe du Vieux Cancels Its Parade for 2021

Krewe du Vieux isn’t waiting for the Mayor to cancel its 2021 parade…the Krewe has already cancelled itself.  The beloved parade known for its wild satire, adult themes, and political comedy, as well as for showcasing some of the best brass and jazz bands in New Orleans, made this announcement a day after Mayor LaToya Cantrell said Mardi Gras would look “differently” next year.

As stated OffBeat previously reported, Red Beans has already cancelled its parade plans in addition to Oshun, NOMTOC, and Adonis.

Last year’s Krewe du Vieux was notably “full of dicks,” phallic imagery that openly mocked Donald J. Trump. KDV captain Sebastian Boegershausen told Doug Maccash of Nola.com that the krewe plans to “build satirical art installations or engage in activities in support of local charities.” He noted that the art would have to be less salacious in nature if it were to be a stationary installation.
