Hip-Hop recording artist and performer Koan Kenpachi will perform his new album Supremium with his backing band My Theme Music at Zony Mash Beer Project on April 14. Derrick Freeman & Smoker’s World, fellow “SMOKETEAM” affiliate, will open the show.
Supremium was released on November 11, and has been described as a “hip-hop album for hip-hop heads.” The performance will kick off a series of club dates across the U.S. for the New Orleans native emcee, who is excited to return to the stage after a year since his transplant.
Koan began his professional music career as the Hip-Hop emcee for the New Orleans-based band EOE and launched his solo career with Chronicles of a Dying Breed. Supremium served as a follow-up, and the night will feature some tracks from his previous album but will mainly focus on celebrating the new release.
Koan’s band “My Theme Music” comprises some of the city’s top musicians, including Scott Jackson of Crescent City Allstars on bass, Khris Royal on keys, Terrence Houston on drums, Raja Kassis on guitar, and Tony Skratchere on DJ. The performance will also feature special guests Sean Carey, producer and featured artist on Supremium, and Koan’s son, Woe Shinigami, featured on the track “Daily Bread Fam.”
