Kermit Ruffins took to Instagram on Wednesday, November 4 to say his Mother in Law Lounge will be open every day at 4 p.m., opening at 11 a.m. Sundays. In a post featuring a bartender (identified as “today’s barmaid) in a bright red top with matching crimson lipstick, @ruffinsbbq wrote: “The Mother in Law Lounge is now open everyday at 4, Sundays at 11 am so maskup and come have some fun and drinks and bbq.”
The New Orleans staple owned by Kermit Ruffins has certainly had a rough go over the last several weeks. With city officials hovering over the property and delivering citations for COVID violations, Ruffins was forced to shutter the doors of the property originally opened by Ernie K-Doe in 1995. As Phase 3.2 fell upon the city, the Mother in Law Lounge remained closed.
Last month, Ruffins started a Go Fund Me to raise $50,000 to keep the bar in business. To date, Ruffins has raised $35,205 of his goal.
