Kermit Ruffins Fundraiser to Save the Mother in Law Lounge

The New Orleans staple owned by Kermit Ruffins has certainly had a rough go over the last several weeks. With city officials hovering over the property and delivering citations for COVID violations, Ruffins was forced to shutter the doors of the property originally opened by Ernie K-Doe in 1995. As Phase 3.2 fell upon the city this past weekend, the Mother in Law Lounge remained closed.

Ruffins has spent quarantine making ends meet with front lawn performances, Cameo bookings, and Facebook livestreams. But now the situation is dire and Ruffins in a Go Fund Me post has called upon lovers of his lounge to help it survive.

Ruffins writes in his post, “For the last 7 months, we have done our best to keep our people employed help the community with free meals.  However, the bills have been piling up to the point of almost no return.  Now, as a last resort, I am asking my friends and fans who are able to give us a hand and please help me keep this historic bar afloat. Stay safe, and I hope to see y’all real soon.”
