Kendrick Lamar, Mariah Carey, Ciara and Maxwell will headline the 22nd annual ESSENCE Festival when the event returns to the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans on June 30 – July. The fest will feature a variety of workshops and panel discussions, with music taking place on July 1, 2 and 3.
Also on the bill are Charlie Wilson, Leon Bridges, Tyrese Gibson, Robert Glasper Experiment, Lion Babe, Faith Evans, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, The Internet, Jeremih, New Edition, Estelle, Lalah Hathaway, Jienna, Judith Hill, Digable Planets, Def Loaf and many more. New Orleans’ own Cyril Neville, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and New Breed Brass Band will perform at ESSENCE as well.
Kendrick Lamar’s headlining set will mark his first concert in New Orleans since the Kunta’s Groove Sessions tour sold out the Civic Theatre with a phenomenal show this past November. It will also mark the first ESSENCE appearances for Mariah Carey, Leon Bridges, Jeremih, Lion Babe, The Internet and Def Loaf.
