George Porter Jr. is a lifelong New Orleanian who has held down a regular gig at the Maple Leaf Bar for a few years now. Radiohead has played the Crescent City three times since 1995. While these artists may have little in common on the surface, it’s a fact of life that game recognizes game. So it’s not really surprising that a few members of Radiohead dropped by the Maple Leaf (along with Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler, because why not?) after their brilliant show at the Smoothie King Center on Monday night. It’s also not surprising that Colin Greenwood felt the need to strike up a conversation with his brother-in-bass after checking out The Porter Trio’s set.
Who else wishes they were a fly on the wall during that chat?
In any case, here’s our review and photo gallery from Monday’s Radiohead concert.
