Jon Cleary to perform online benefit for OffBeat

New Orleans-based pianist extraordinaire, the Grammy-winning Jon Cleary, will devote the earnings from his May 5 “Quarantini Happy Hour” virtual gig to OffBeat.

For the past few weeks, Cleary has performed his “Quarantini” shows on social media, performing New Orleans piano music. After hearing of OffBeat’s financial woes (we recently published a GoFundMe campaign), the English-born musician who’s been featured in the magazine countless times in the past (including this 2018 cover story and a feature in our May 2020 digital issue) offered to provide some assistance.

“The New Orleans music world is comprised of small businesses. And Offbeat Magazine is a local small business that has always fostered a connection between lovers of our music across the globe,” says Cleary. “But they are facing a challenging time and have asked for donations to keep them afloat. So join me for a special version of my weekly Tuesday ‘Quarantini Happy Hour’ on my Facebook page, which will be dedicated to raising some moolah to support OffBeat. Every penny pledged will go to them!”

Tune in this Tuesday, May 5 at 8 p.m. CDT to Jon Cleary’s Facebook page. OffBeat thanks Jon, his fans and all of our supporters in New Orleans and beyond.
